If you're looking for something different for your event, be it a Nurse's Day celebration, bridal shower, wedding reception, baby shower, fundraising, trade show or just a great party favor, Anne Murphy, owner of Decadent Delights in Valley City, has just the goodies you need.
Decadent Delights started as an idea 16 years ago. At the time Murphy was a veteran in pharmaceutical and medical sales who realized that marketing could combine with her favorite thing: toffee.
"I knew I didn't want to make the candy," she said. "I wanted to market it."
Murphy partnered with Amish candy maker Koblentz Chocolates, working with them to recreate her favorite almond toffee. They developed five different unique chocolate candies: milk chocolate-covered almond toffee, dark chocolate almond toffee (sprinkled with sea salt), milk chocolate meltaways, dark chocolate meltaways, and dark chocolate mint meltaways.
"I always knew that this business could work with my lifestyle as a mom," Murphy said. She is mother to Madison, 11, Spencer, 9, and Lily,7. Murphy's business cards make her priorities clear: the title under her name reads "Mompreneur."
Murphy's business centers on designing unique favors for private parties and corporate events.
"About 75 percent of my business is corporate and holidays, while the rest is favors for weddings, parties and luncheons," she said.
The favors are packaged in unique glass jars or hand-decorated boxes with personalized labels to commemorate the event. Murphy emphasizes that there are no minimum sizes for orders and no set-up fees for personalization.
"That's the focus of the Decadent Delights: personalized favors that are memorable," she said.
New studies have shown that eating dark chocolate delivers not only the pleasure from the taste but the health benefits of high levels of polyphenols, which are very strong antioxidants. Scientists have already established the benefits of antioxidants in preventing damage to the body by free radicals, which contribute to the aging process.
